New Headquarters – PETA training

Requirement:

To provide a complete telecommunications and audio visual solution for the new headquarters of PETA, a large corporate training organisation based in Portsmouth. To include:-

Solution:

Aside from the  installation of a new telephone system and interactive AV systems, PETA also required the transfer of existing AV equipment into their new premises whilst maintaining normal operations.

Due to the complexity of this work, Portsmouth Communications dedicated a project manager to oversee the project. Working closely with our client a number of options were presented to ensure that the right solution was found to meet their operational requirements.

  • An early demonstration of  the Avaya IP Office (IP500) telephone system enabled PETA to confidently select the best telecommunications solution for their new environment which was flexible and compatible with future technology changes.
  • We negotiated on PETA’s behalf a 20% discount from Avaya as a trade in against their old Index system- thus reducing upgrade costs.
  • Our project manager managed the exacting timescales and worked in conjunction with the main site contractors to ensure equipment and cabling were installed as per the main schedule of works.
  • Portsmouth Communications facilitated the transfer of the existing ISDN30e and analogue line services on behalf of the customer to ensure continuity of service.  Acting on their behalf we were able to minimise the number of suppliers they had to deal with whilst also saving PETA £1000.00 on their ISDN30e installation.
  • The new conference room combines a complex video cabling solution and wireless audio solution providing an easy to use and flexible centre for presentations.
  • The Avaya IP Office telephone system was installed and tested a week prior to the moving in date to ensure a smooth change over. On the moving day all we had to do was plug in the BT lines and the system was fully operational in a matter of seconds !

PETA closed their old offices on the Friday and by the end of the day we had removed all the AV equipment ready to commence re-installation into the new headquarters. We re-installed the equipment into the training rooms in accordance with the schedule allowing PETA to become fully operational again by Wednesday of the following week.

Result:

PETA were able to let us project manage the complete telecoms and audio visual installation allowing them to concentrate on their training business. PETA moved in on the day originally specified with a complete telecoms and AV solution ready and working. Disruption to PETA’s training services was kept to an absolute minimum, in fact to any of their customers there probably didn’t appear to be any effect on the service received at all.
